Nepal Magar Day
March 1, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Magar Day, or Magar National Unity Day, is celebrated on Falgun 15th every year to commemorate the establishment of the Nepal Magar Association. The Nepal Langhali Family Association’s Central Executive Committee unanimously proposed the day to be celebrated as “Langhali Day” on Falgun 15th of every year in 2040 B.S. Since then, the Nepal Magar Association and other Magar associations have celebrated the day as “Magar Day”.
The Magar community also celebrates Maghe Sankranti, which is a national festival for the Magar and Tharu communities. Maghe Sankranti is celebrated on the first day of Magh in the Bikram Sambat calendar, which usually falls in mid-January. It marks the end of winter solstice and the beginning of longer and warmer days. It is also a time of harvest and feasting.
